From time to time we get asked about budget hosting environments for people that are just thinking about getting online. Hosting in Australia is a little bit more expensive at times compared to overseas alternatives and for a solo start up business that is just getting into the market, it can be a bit of a start up cost detering the business from getting online.
For clients that aren't really worried about connection speed from Australia to their web host then we recommend using BlueHost as their Joomla hosting provider.
BlueHost were the very first hosting provider that we used at PB Web Development when first starting out.
We did however change over to a local provider when some data and backups were lost and we realised that the connection speeds here in Australia for our customers was making our websites a little unusable. Over the years however, BlueHost have improved their services and we don't see loss of data or infact much downtime on their servers either.
It is important to note that the servers are shared environments and maybe loaded with thousands of websites which could be a security risk and hamper the performance of your website.
If you're budget minded, and don't mind the speed loss of hosting overseas then we highly recommend hosting with BlueHost. Otherwise a local hosting environment here in Australia is your best bet.
